The seas were quite rough overnight, with a lot of creaking in the stateroom, it wasn’t particularly rough compared with a trans Atlantic cruise but we have been blessed with mirror like seas for the majority of this cruise it does seem a bit bouncy. I had a busy schedule of Insight lectures starting at 10 am so after a shower and breakfast I headed down to the Royal Court Theatre for Captain John Hutchinson’s talk on the Air France Concorde tragedy and the end of Concorde.

The second of the Insight’s programme was Henry Blofeld’s Q&A session with Assistant Entertainment director Tommy Baxter-Hill.

After lunch we spent most of the day sheltering from the rain, it had really started to tip it down. We started off by having a bit of a walk, we started off on deck 3 for a quick spin around the promenade deck, we got half way round but were thwarted by some maintenance taping off the deck by the back of the perfume shops, so it was a quick turn around and we headed back the way we came and headed back inside. We carried on a stroll around browsing the shops and listening to the cello concert in the Queens Room before heading to the Grills Lounge for a coffee and to psyche ourselves up for the penultimate progressive trivia quiz. I can only assume that heading back North to cooler climes is affecting our performance, we got our best progressive result with 16/20 not a winning score but our best by far.

We didn’t go to the Commodore Club for drinks after the quiz as we had arranged to meet up with our table mates in the Grills Lounge for pre dinner cocktails as this was our last Formal Night of the cruise. It was the Roaring Twenties themed night and the ladies had fully committed to it, with tasseled dresses, feather boas and plumed headdresses on show.

After dinner there was a Roaring Twenties quiz in the Winter Garden, so the six of us headed there after dinner. It was a multi-choice 1920’s themed quiz, which was always going to be too easy, we garnered 18/20 and the winners 20. Our tablemates headed off to the Theatre and the Four D’s “Four Voices” show, while us lightweights headed to bed.
