Crossing The Bay of Biscay – Day 19 – Oct 19th

Today’s Daily Programme can be found here…

The end is nigh, The sea overnight was a lot calmer even though we were in the Bay of Biscay where experience says it’s going to be lumpy in October After a quick shower and breakfast we set about killing some time to allow Myra our cabin stewardess to tidy up, so we headed down to the Winter Garden with our table mates for the 10 am quiz. We must be getting brainier as we head North as this was another quiz where we just missed out on top spot 17/20 with 18 winning.

After all that excitement it was back to the room to find the dreaded packing mat on the bed. We spent an hour packing and double checking that we had left enough clothes for the evening’s festivities and disembarkation. Jane has a recurring nightmare of having to disembark in a Cunard robe and slippers having packed all her other clothes by mistake.

After the horrors of packing we headed up to the PG restaurant for lunch only to find that the weather had transformed and it was now a glorious sunny day with little wind and a calm sea. We were going to claim a couple of loungers on the Grills Terrace, but I noticed our table in the restaurant was occupied by our table mates, so we headed in for some lunch instead. After lunch we went up to 12 where there were beds set out in the sun and claimed a couple to savour the last of the sun’s rays for this cruise.

The final progressive trivia quiz was at 16:15 in the Winter Garden so we headed there, we weren’t in the running for a prize but we may as well complete the set. Yet again Jane and myself were on form ending up in a 4 way tie break for the win. We were well out in guessing the date of USB’s invention. After that we headed to the Card Room on deck 3 to trade in our stickers for Cunard branded prizes. And then to the Commodore Club for one final cocktail on this cruise.

Our final dinner was an excellent one, we had escargots to start which we haven’t seen on the PG menu before, although it has featured on the Britannia one many times. And a roast chicken dinner with added yorkshire puddings.

Jane and the Ladies headed down to the Queens room for a quick dance to and with the Four D’s who were playing there for the evening and I went to deposit our luggage out in the corridor and then off to bed
