The first sea day was a quiet one. The clocks went forward so I didn’t wake until 8am, that and the lumpy sea put me off going for a run, so after a shower we went for breakfast. I had planned to attend both lectures in the morning, but before that we went to the voyage sales office to see about booking next years cruise. I waited in line while Jane popped into the Queens room to watch the Zumba lesson. M938A booked I went to the theatre to see Simon Fellows lecture on the night sky, and Jane went for a lie down exhausted from watching the Zumba. Stuart St Paul followed him with the first of his lectures on the film industry.

Lunch followed, and I went for a bimble around while Jane who was now full of the cold and green with seasickness retired to bed for the rest of the day.

It was the first “Gala Night” of the cruise, the Black and White ball which the poor thing missed. It was a shame really because we now have all of our companions for dinner, and unusually for so early in the cruise it was Surf and Turf and Baked Alaska. Normally these are served up on the final Formal night when the chefs are presented. I had the Ox Cheek starter followed by Sirloin and cheese and biscuits and then bed.
