Today’s Daily Programme is here ….
We arrived in Arricife, Lanzarote just as I was heading out for my daily run, down in the gym. We had decided to go out into Arricife for a walk, to grab some coffee, and possibly have lunch out. Because of this we didn’t want to leave the ship too early as it was we left about 10:45 to walk into Arricife. The walk in was pleasant, as it was flat and not too busy and we walked through the marina so there was plenty to see and even better the sun was shining. We had a coffee at one of the little cafes just back from the main shopping street, which was very nice, but it filled us up a little, so by the time we’d walked all the way down the main street and back out of the other side of the lagoon we weren’t very hungry. Rather than eat out we decided to head back to the ship and have something to eat there instead.

After lunch I called Matthew, our butler, and asked if he could provide an ice bucket and some ice as well as some extra canapes as we intended to entertain our friends. Pam and Max after the quiz. We still have a couple of bottles of champagne left from all the celebrations and it would seem a waste not to use them up.

So after a little sun bathing on the Grills Terrace and a frankly pathetic attempt at the afternoon trivia quiz, we headed back to our stateroom and the balcony where we cracked open a bottle of champagne, ate some rather delicious canapes and spent a very pleasant hour chatting to Pam and Max in the sun. We had a little drama where it turned out our toilet wouldn’t flush, but after reporting this to the butler 30 minutes later out of the blue, the toilet flushed by itself. Itself. I’m not sure what they did to remedy it but they’ve obviously done something.

I was looking forward to dinner tonight as we had tandoori lamb chops as an entree and there are particular favourites of mine. Jane had ordered Lobster Thermidor so she was looking forward to that. The lamb chops weren’t the same as normal. Normally they have a dry rub on them but still they were very delicious and I was rather disappointed that they only gave me three. After dinner, Jane went to her first show of the cruise, a four-piece male ensemble called the Four-D’s playing in the theatre. She really enjoyed the show. I just went to bed. We will lose an hour tonight as the clocks go forward on our approach to Cadiz.
