Today’s Daily Programme is here …..
We had a bit of a bump in the night, I’d washed out my aluminium water bottle and left it upside down on the side to dry, well the bump in the night caused it to fall over and crash to the floor waking Jane and scaring her half to death. I managed to maintain my new healthy regime by making it to the gym again before breakfast. I stretched out my hamstrings before waddling onto the treadmill and my hamstrings were less painful than the previous session.

Jane finally made it to breakfast for the first time on this cruise and was pleased that she had, she had the avocado on toast with a side of crispy bacon and was surprised at the chilli kick that came with it, she really enjoyed it. After breakfast we headed back to the room to prepare to go out into Lisbon, precautionary coats and foreign exchange.
Jane has a bit of a shopping list, mascara, cotton buds and some eye drops for the tired eyes. It’s a flat walk into the city, which was good because the previous couple of days in the gym have left my legs feeling stiff. We walked along the front to Praca do Commercio where the Bloke on a horse statue is, from there we headed into the back streets for a coffee before finding a mascara shop. We were advised that there was a Sephora nearby, so a quick google showed one fairly close, what the google map didn’t show was the hill and steps we had to climb to get there. We eventually found it, bought the mascara and the other odds and ends. We thought it would be a good idea to use the Cunard shuttle to head back to the ship. Previously the shuttles have always left from Restaurantdores Square so we headed there, but there was no sign of a shuttle anywhere there, nor in Praca do Rossio so instead headed back to the ship on Shanks Pony. It turns out after checking the daily programme that there is a “limited shuttle service ” reserved for less mobile passengers. I stopped at a barbers on the way back for a quick tidy up ready for tomorrow’s events. All done we headed back to the ship for lunch and to try and beat the promised rain.

After a very nice lunch back on the ship including two desserts, much to Jane’s annoyance, I love trifle and I love orange cake, I shouldn’t be expected to have to make a choice. we went to the room as Jane wanted to watch Wonka, she’s a sucker for a musical and she hasn’t seen it yet. Unfortunately the movies had rotated and The Martian was now showing, still a good film, so we watched a bit of that while psyching ourselves up for Afternoon Trivia in the Carinthia Lounge. 15/20 with a bit of mild cheating was fairly good, with a tiebreak @ 19 for the winners. After that a quick sojourn to the Commodore Club followed, for a non-alcoholic Ghost Ship which I didn’t like and a Cool as a Cucumber which Jane did like.

After that it was back to the restaurant for dinner. Jane had ordered Lemon Sole off the A la Carte menu and I had the Iberico Pork cutlet. Mine was lovely, but Jane was disappointed with hers as she had to wait an age between receiving the fish and her vegetables arriving and even longer for her potatoes which made the meal disjointed.
