Beyond the Bay of Biscay – 17th February – Day 3

Today’s Daily Programme is here ….

Today’s Menu is here ….

I had a better sleep than our first night, I must be getting used to the new bed, it is very comfortable. My watch woke me nice and early so I could do day 2 of my health regime. The gym was nice and quiet again with only one of the treadmills in use and none of the other exercise machines. I did 25 mins of mixed fast walk and jogging which took me to 2.6 kms. I do wish I had stretched out before starting because my right hamstrings were painful. I also did a bit of upper body resistance work.

After all that, I headed back to the room and had a shower while I waited for Jane to drag herself out of bed. She came out of the shower with various pains in her back and leg which she’s attributing to the high side on the bath. I ended up Billy no mates again at breakfast, with instructions that I had to return with salmon and cream cheese bagel.

It turned out I wasn’t the only one at breakfast, four of our table mates were also there.

We were very lazy after breakfast as I was late returning and missed the first lecture of the day, also Sarah Robertson’s chat on her Olympic sailing success. We surfaced before lunch, Jane wanted some mascara, as hers was irritating her eyes. The selection in the shops was disappointing so we left and headed to the Photography Galleries to have a chat about the wedding photographs. We then went to the chart room to find our friends Pam and Max as they were being the witnesses and we wanted to make sure they were happy with there duties.

After a very nice lunch of Spaghetti Bolognese, we headed up to the Pavilion Pool via the sun decks on seven and eight and the Grills Terrace via Col de Grills. We were puffing by the time we got up there. We lay around for a while people  watching on the loungers there before heading to the Carinthia Lounge for Afternoon Trivia. We’d arranged to meet up with Pam and Max with the intention of forming a formidable quiz team. Unlike Queen Anne the Carinthia lounge has a menu that lists the various coffees and teas available, as well as disgusting sounding healthy smoothies. They also had a very tempting selection of unhealthy cakes, Fortified with a flat white and a Smores Donut it was heads down and quiz time. We managed a respectable 16/20 against a winning score of 19, so not quite the invincible team I’d imagined but not too bad.

At  5 it was time for our first Commodore O’Clock, shocking that it’s taken so long. I had a Doombar and Jane a Ginger Cosmo.

Hairdo #3

Jane washed out yesterday’s curls and blow dried it out in her normal styling. She was much much happier with this look, rather than yesterday’s “Crystal Tips” look.  It was time for dinner. Someone near us had Tequila King Prawns as a table side dish and it smelled fantastic, we made do with the rack of lamb which tasted delicious.
