Today’s Daily Programme Can Be Found Here
It’s our last full day aboard Queen Anne and we have a pretty hectic schedule today. All three Insights lecturers are in action. First up though, was breakfast, I’d ordered kedgeree again, It was delicious. For some reason we’d not received tonight’s menu last evening so we weren’t sure whether to order the Dover Sole again, there was a possibility, albeit slim, that tandoori lamb cutlets might feature but they didn’t so Dover Sole was ordered for tonight’s dinner.
The first of today’s Insights lectures was Keith Appleyard talking about Bletchley Park and Enigma. This has been a favourite subject of mine since our first Cunard Cruise on QM2 where a five part lecture on Enigma and Bomb was given by one of the Bletchley Park curators. Keith’s lecture was excellent and came from a different angle.
Nancy Appleyed followed, continuing her talks on communication, venturing inot the effects of advertising on us. Finally John Laverick spoke on D-Day and the Mulberry Harbours and the effect engineering had on the landings.
After the Insights lectures I had more mundane things to attend to, the dreaded packing. By the time I arrived back at the stateroom, Jane had already completed most of hers. It didn’t take me too long, as yesterday’s laundry was ready to be slotted into a suit carrier. Packing squares are also a godsend, as they act to compress all clothes down into manageable packets.
After lunch we headed down to the Corinthia to have our first “posh coffee” of the cruise and to listen to the Guest Choir give their performance. I find it very strange that there was no coffee menu. There was no indication hot chocolate was available, so if you don’t know how can you order it? Likewise on Victoria, there’s a myriad of exotic coffee on the menu to explore, but nothing on Anne.
Then it was time to finalise the packing before venturing up to the Commodore Club to listen to SouthEast9, who incidentally don’t hail from Eltham, and for Jane to have her final cocktail of the cruise.
Dinner was the aforementioned Dover Sole with extra vegetables this time, we weren’t getting fooled again, and this was delicious. We’d exhausted our wine package and Dejan our sommelier served up a very nice, but eye watering expensive to me at least, Chablis. All too soon it was time to head to the room, finalise the last of the packing and place our bags outside for collection.
